From the presentation mine was like a snake soup, and in fact on the taste it was also quite similar, with a lot of ingredients, including abalone, fish maw, chicken, shiitake, bamboo pith, black tree fungus, 15-year dried tangerine peel, and ginger. Next, we had the soup, with me going for Eight Treasure Soup ($208), while my wife had Double-boiled Fish Maw with Whelk, Honeydew Melon and Pork Loin ($188). An additional highlight was the chef using the dried small white fish to prepare a cracker on the side, which was a great treat by itself. The minced garlic added the crispy and intense taste but still we could taste the delicate flavors of the frog’s leg. I liked the way it was done, with the frog’s leg meaty but not dried out, keeping the level of deep-frying well in control. To start off, we had the Deep-fried French Frog’s Leg ($238). Instead of ordering the Michelin menu, we decided to go for a la carte. Balanced and fruity, the wine was simple but a good pairing with most of the dishes on the night. Seeing the wide selection on the wine menu, I decided to open a bottle of Domaine de la Janasse Cotes du Rhone Blanc 2017 ($500). The décor was nice, giving a premium ambience, with the wooden floor, the glass walls featuring many bronze utensils of ancient design highlighting the Chinese heritage. We came early in the evening and was seated at the main dining area, with a circular raised platform with tables on the side. They also prided themselves with a great cellar of over 400 wines from different parts of the world to. This Michelin 1-star restaurant offers authentic Cantonese cuisine under Chef Li, with over 20 years of culinary experience and had joined the restaurant since its opening. It is amongst the few that we trust to get all of the important things right every time we dine here. Many restaurants around HK have up and down nights, not Ming Court. This is a restaurant we are happy to take friends and family when considered guaranteed very good meal experiences. Overall, this was another very good dinner at Ming Court like all others we have enjoyed in the past. ![]() We also enjoy the desserts at Ming Court, they are elegantly presented and taste good a nice way to wrap up meals at the restaurant. This was very good, a nice dish to share. ![]() We also tried the signature vegetable serving of a steamed whole tomato filled with tomato, morel, mushroom, lotus seed, yam and served in a pumpkin puree. Save a bit of hoisin sauce if you want to add a bit of sweetness to the second course. The second course of minced duck with pine nuts, spring onion and rice crisps is also very good. Duck succulent with nice fat layer and crispy skin. They have a nice wine selection as well.ĭuring our recent meal we very much enjoyed the Peking Duck which is served in two courses, the traditional slices with hoisin sauce and wraps were excellent. You'll also find signature creations by Chef Yuet Faat and his team. Menu is a selection of Cantonese classics as well as wider Chinese favourites including Peking Duck. Dress code is smart casual/business casual, seating area is slightly elegant but not intimidating. Reservations essential, best to book at least a few days in advance for weekday meals and a week or more if you want to dine on a weekend. This is one of our best Cantonese fine dining experiences in the city and a place that we have enjoyed a handful of times over the years.
